The Main Operating Room has 24 operating rooms, Children's Surgery Center has 6 operating rooms and Same Day Surgery Center has 4 operating rooms. The majority of the surgical procedures performed tend to be complex. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, patient care is provided to a wide range of surgical services including: Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Vascular, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Burn, Trauma, Gyn, Urology, Pediatrics, Transplant, and General Surgery.

Responsibilities The Principal Surgical Technician is an advanced Subject Matter Expert in GYN/Urology Surgery and the specific instruments, equipment, lasers, hardware and disposables used in this complex surgical specialty. This employee is recognized within the department as 'a person to ask' when difficult questions arise regarding this service.
The PST must function at the 'advanced level' in a large variety of urgent and emergent procedures and must be able to make complex decisions, often with little time and incomplete information. The Principle Technician has an integrated knowledge of anatomy and physiology, vascular surgical procedures, and physician practices and advances in technology relating to vascular surgery. The technician must demonstrate an understanding of the steps needed to provide the necessary optimal intervention for each patient and assists to provide the necessary resources in a manner that minimizes and/or eliminates delays.
Minimum of four years paid Surgical Technician experience in the Operating Room
Graduation from an accredited Surgical Tech program
Certification as a Surgical Technician
Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or certification as a Tech in Surgery, (TS-C) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
Proficient in scrubbing urological surgical procedures.
Recent surgical work experience as a Sr. Surgical tech
Knowledge of operating room equipment set-up, operation, troubleshooting techniques including but not limited to lasers, microscopes, video systems.
Ability to work overtime and work weekends and holidays.
Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients and stand on feet over extended periods.
