Reporting to the Assistant Director for Public Services, the Head of Research and Instructional Services will work with faculty and staff within the department, the library, and the university to plan, develop, and deliver a full range of traditional and innovative products and services. The successful candidate will coordinate the operations of a heavily used reference service point, supervise 6 FTE librarians and 4 FTE staff members, lead the department in providing effective instruction, support distance education, and facilitate the use of emerging technologies to expand services. The individual will undertake regular instructional and reference duties. As a member of the library's management team, the Head of Research and Instructional Services helps guide the organization in achieving its mission.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or international equivalent;
three or more years of recent, progressively responsible library reference and instructional experience;
expertise with traditional and electronic reference materials;
outstanding leadership and communication skills;
demonstrated flexibility in adapting to change;
strong commitment to public service;
familiarity with current trends in scholarly communication;
demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments on campus;
demonstrated ability to set priorities, and to develop, plan, and implement programs.
