UNC Kenan-Flagler’s online MBA program, MBA@UNC, consists of nearly 1000 students and provides the unique opportunity to obtain UNC business education from anywhere in the world. The program employs state-of-the-art virtual campus technology to ensure that program quality meets the same high standards of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Full-Time, Evening, and Weekend MBA programs. Classes are hosted live using video-conferencing technology to deliver a face-to-face experience between students and faculty. In addition, students receive real-world learning experiences meeting face-to-face during global and domestic Summits and immersions, which are offered four times a year. The Assistant Director of Academics is a key point of contact for all 100 MBA@UNC faculty and works directly with the Associate Director of Academics to execute the academic strategies within the MBA@UNC program. The Assistant Director closely partners with all faculty within MBA@UNC (Lead, Coordinating, Section), ensuring that students are receiving high quality education across both sections and courses. The Assistant Director is responsible for executing faculty engagement and communications strategies; managing quarterly class schedules; onboarding new faculty; communicating policies and procedures to faculty; compiling, analyzing, and distributing course evaluation data to faculty teams and program leadership; maintaining faculty pay; and collecting data for various survey requests. Additionally, this position assists the Associate Director when working closely with MBA Program leadership as well as 2U, our technology partner, on all faculty-related items including but not limited to course maintenance, revisions, and production for 44 courses. The Assistant Director may also be involved in academics and operations projects across the MBA Program portfolio, as needed. The Assistant Director of Academics serves on the Academics & Operations team within the MBA Program and reports to the Associate Director of Academics.
Education and Experience:
The candidate must have a strong proficiency in technology tools and data management processes, strong organization and coordination skills, efficiency in both independent and team-based environments, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate leadership skills and strong project management skills while relating well to best-in-class educators. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of academic course content and possess the ability to evaluate the quality of courses and course delivery. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, ability to analyze large sets of data, and the ability to multitask. Because communication is a large component of this position, the Assistant Director must have strong interpersonal skills and exhibit an ability to develop and maintain both internal and external relationships. This person must be able to distill and effectively communicate comprehensive data, actively be a team player, and maintain frequent communication with program leadership.
