The George Mason University Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry in the College of Science invites applications for a junior-level Accounts Payable Technician. This position will be responsible for processing various types of accounts payable transactions, including daily review of vendor invoices, employee expense reimbursements, and payment request vouchers. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
Review the daily edit report for Accounts Payable transactions for conformity with the Commonwealth of Virginia policies and university procedures;
Have a thorough knowledge of the commonwealth's food and beverage policies, reimbursement policies and ensure compliance through the daily edit review process;
Manage the approval queues for external invoicing departments; ensure that all invoices are approved timely and accurately;
Support fiscal activities including placing and tracking purchase orders and processing journal vouchers;
Complete the check run processing and reconciliation functions; handle bank-related tasks such as check inquires and cancellations;
Assist the Senior Fiscal Technician in matters regarding university and state policies and procedures;
Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients through e-mail and phone; and
Perform special projects as requested by the supervisor.
Accounting or Financial background; accounts payable experience preferred;
Outstanding writing skills, with the ability to document a process from start to finish;
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word and Outlook);
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential budgetary information; and
Knowledge and operational proficiency of the budgetary process.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Proficient in Ellucian Banner financial system;
Work experience in a higher education environment; and
Experience working with eVA, BOA Works System, Microstrategy, PCard training.
Salary: $19.00 per hour
