The Senior Network Systems Engineer is responsible for engineering and managing the Collegeâ™s Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) software and hardware. The position ensures the stability, integrity, and resiliency of all network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points/controller and VPN. The position serves as the technical lead responsible for project implementations, the supervision and mentoring of other staff, and the highest escalation point for resolving complex technical issues. This position reports directly to the Director of Enterprise Services.
•Demonstrated expert knowledge of Cisco products equivalent to a Certified Network Professional including hands-on experience managing Cisco routers, switches, wireless networks, Identity Services Engine, and Prime Infrastructure Management. •Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing Palo Alto firewalls, Radius and TACACS server, VPN devices, and intrusion detection systems. •Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor technical team members. •Ability to analyze, think logically, determine the needs and solve the problems of users, other ITSS support staff and Campus IT support staff. •Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, technical peers, vendors, and users • Excellent communication skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent applicable experience and training. Significant experience applying a broad knowledge of CCNP principles, practices and procedures of particular functions to the completion of difficult assignments.
