The Sr. Application Systems Developer will develop Business Intelligence and Analytical solutions for users primarily using SAP Business Objects and other supported BI report tool sets. The role will identify business intelligence and data analysis needs and works closely with clients and IT teams to turn data into critical information that can be used to make sound business decisions. The Sr. Developer will review and provide input on solution architecture and guide decisions, collaborate on implementation and provide training and guidance to technical and functional teams. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in Business Objects, including but not limited to data set ingestion and transformation, report development using the most appropriate report templates for a given data set, and the creation of dashboards that bring together key performance and operational data for an enterprise.
Designs and develops reporting solutions using Business Objects reporting tools such as Web Intelligence and Crystal Reports.
Develops and enhances Universes using the Universe Builder to build semantic layer between the database and reporting tools.
Enhances, debugs and performance tunes report's and code as necessary.
Engages and takes ownership of all phases of the software development life cycle from analysis, planning design, development, testing and deployment.
Leads the requirements gathering process with customers, determine requirements for data, reports, analyses, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and performance for assigned projects.
Independently identifies and troubleshoots errors or bugs.
Works directly with business users to gather requirements and drive timelines; anticipate end user needs and exceed client expectations.
Collaborates with EBIS data integration team members to ensure data is staged appropriately to meet end user requirements.
Demonstrates reporting best practices and use of data visualizations to empower data-driven decision making.
Ensures visual quality of all deliverables including user experience design, consistency and standardization and aesthetically pleasing visualizations consistent with the Columbia University brand.
Ensures data quality of all deliverables, conduct thorough unit, integration, regression, stress, system, and performance testing and facilitate user acceptance testing cycles.
Provides input into the Enterprise BI Strategy to ensure the team is informed of industry advances.
Maintains up to date on SAP Business Objects and related technology enhancements and recommend new features/tools that can be leveraged by the team.
Provides governance around platform architecture and operations.
Provides technical guidance and mentorship to other BI Developers and end users.
Provides ongoing support of production applications.
Develops business presentations, training documents and provide training for technical staff and power users.

Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required.
Minimum 4-6 years' related experience.
4+ years of hands-on experience with Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Universe Designer, Rich Client development.
2+ years using Database - SQL Server, Oracle and strong SQL experience.
Experience with customer requirements gathering and creation of User Stories for SCRUM Agile SDLC.
Experience in Agile methodology and Proof of Concept, iterative design and development approach.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team.
Excellent business analysis, data analysis, documentation and requirements gathering skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with changing priorities and with multiple projects.
Ability to identify and communicate issues/risks applying technical and root cause analysis skills.
Strong decision making, technical, problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to be precise and attentive to detail is essential.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work weekend and off-hour work on occasion.
Experience with Power BI, Qlik or any other data visualization tool.
Experience in Project Management and Data Governance.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft data, Finance, HR, other structured and unstructured sources.
5+ years of Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data warehouse/data mart, data modeling using Kimball methodology experience in team environment.
Knowledge of Azure and AWS.
Familiarity with advanced BI trends - Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Lake, Big Data, Engineered systems, Master Data Management, Data Governance and Cloud Technologies.
