The Department of Neurology is looking for a Full Time Senior Technician. The individual will conduct pre-clinical research on a pediatric disorder as a means of eventually developing a treatment for the disease.
Work on a pre-clinical model of a pediatric brain disorder for which there is currently no effective treatment.
Administer and test and refine a gene replacement strategy in the rodent model. This involves mouse husbandry, genotyping and a range of molecular, cellular and behavioral assays to be used on the model mice.
In addition to the research work in the lab, the individual is expected to help develop IACUC protocols and manage certain aspects of running a research lab, e.g., liaising with the university EH&S office, ensuring the lab is compliant with state, local and university rules and regulations and ordering reagents for lab work.
Bachelor's degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Prior experience working with rodent models in a research laboratory.
Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques required.
