Develop and maintain websites as well as carrying out print and electronic publication production activities associated with the research and Extension educational programs of the Southern Rural Development Center. Publication products are targeted to land-grant university administrators and faculty, agencies/analysts, federal/state policymakers and the general public. A primary responsibility is to manage, strengthen and enhance SRDC's digital presence and coordinate external communications.
Specific responsibilities include: - Maintain and update SRDC and related Websites - Troubleshoot and repairs bugs and problems with SRDC websites - Create content and engage with audiences on SRDC's social media accounts - Create content, edit and distribute SRDC's monthly email newsletter - Maintain SRDC's various email lists - Assess new standards, technologies and trends, and formulate strategies and plans for future website enhancements. - Keep SRDC websites up to date in content and accessibility standards - Design web and print publications for regional and national distribution - Design and create websites, logos and branding for SRDC and related activities - Design and format agendas, one-page policy briefs, educational curricula, graphics and supporting materials for reports, informational handouts, display panels, etc., to support SRDC-related trainings and conferences - Produce, record, edit, market, and provide technical support for SRDC hosted webinars - Work with the SRDC leadership and communication staffs located at three Regional Rural Development Centers across the United States in the development of coordinated marketing and communications resources (websites, brochures, displays, etc.) that showcase innovative research and Extension programs being undertaken by the SRDC and its sister regional centers - Work with vendors to produce various materials - Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in communications, graphic design, public relations, or closely related fields and two years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required: o Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials o Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign o Experience in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel) o Experience with social media management and content creation o Ability to effectively manage time and schedules
Preferred: o Knowledge of server platforms regarding Web site development (Drupal, Dreamweaver, Wix) o Knowledge of video editing and video conference platforms o Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously o Evidence of relevant coursework in web development/design
