This position serves as the primary and central point of contact and department coordinator for all workplace accidents (including vehicle), injury or illness that are covered under major employment laws or state Accident reporting requirements by processing and managing data necessary for complying with the Tennessee Department of the Treasury, Division of Claims Administration Workers' Compensation Program and the Office of Risk Management reporting requirements for workers with occupational accidents (including vehicle), injuries or illness. The principal responsibilities are to manage data and to use analytics to perform data analysis focused on workplace accidents, injuries and illnesses to include aggregating and evaluating the data itself, running reports, customizing reports, creating reports for supervisors and management, using queries to look at the data in terms of trends, outliers and commonality and merging data from multiple sources to be able to better tell a better and more informed story for management decision making decision making in mitigating lost time workplace accidents, injuries or illnesses and for finding ways to reduce those through metric analysis, planning, problem solving, developing or proposing revisions to existing policies, procedures or training. The position occupant will work closely with department supervisors, the Office of Risk Management, Environmental safety and Health and UTK HR in ensuring that workplace accidents, injuries or illnesses are reported and necessary forms are provided to the office of Risk Management in compliance with workers Compensation requirements and that related pertinent data is captured for analytical purposes for use in developing proposals to mitigate workplace accidents and lost work time through training, work effort and work process strategies.
Specific Duties to include:
Aggregate and analyze large workplace accident, injuries, and illnesses data sets gathered weekly, monthly, or quarterly to find trends using such software as Excel, SQL, and Google Analytics to organize the information and consolidating it to find meaningful commonalties. Develop reports based on findings that help in identifying common workplace injury occurrences, root causes, etc. to enable management to make pivotal decisions regarding how to better improve work place safety, target specific training with the objective of minimizing employee loss time accidents and to make job training more effective and the employees more proficient in safety matters.
HR Analyst responsibilities include:
Managing data and performing data analytics focused around workplace accidents, injuries and illnesses.
Analyzes and recommends solutions and strategies to mitigate workplace absences due to workplace injuries
Develops recommended operating procedures or work with task guidelines to mitigate risks
Collaborates with supervisors, employees, UTK campus and UT System offices involved in workplace accidents, injuries and illnesses
Gathering aggregating and processing qualitative and quantitative data around workplace accidents, injuries and illnesses to answer accident related questions.
Identify trends, draw conclusions and recommend workplace training solutions and improvements
Work with Supervisors to foster a safe working environment while on duty
Develop visuals of findings such as charts and graphs, to include in reports to management that provide insights about workplace accident, injuries, or illnesses trends as well as areas that may need to improve upon.
Forecasting financial impacts due to loss time accidents.
Obtain accurate and meaningful data for performing analytics, ensure that employees and their supervisors follow the UT campus workers' Compensation claims Procedures as outlined by the Office of Risk Management and that injuries are reported and necessary forms are completed by the employee and the supervisor within the specified timeframes.
Provide follow through, coordinate, and provide assistance as necessary to ensure employees and or supervisors report injuries to the Tennessee Department of Treasury, Division of Claims administration Workers' Compensation Program administrator for the processing of workers' compensation claims, Corvel, within three days of injury and obtain Corvel Claim Number for form completions.
For Family Medical Leave approved to run concurrently with Workers' Compensation leave track each leave type separately by developing and maintain appropriate tracking tools.
