JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Chief Medical Director, this position oversees the intake and release of decedents in/out of the facility. Assists with preparing bodies for autopsy; assists with eviscerations; maintains specimens, and prepares bodies for the funeral home.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares bodies for postmortem examinations.
Washes, dries, measures, and positions bodies.
Prepares and preserves tissue and specimens.
Assists in body dissection.
Lifts and transfers bodies between cart and table.
Provides photos and digital documentation of transfer.
Ensures proper storage conditions for remains.
Collects forensic evidence and maintains chain of custody, as required.
Enters evidence information into computer.
Cleans and disinfects mortuary equipment and environments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
