UW Medicine Supply Chain Management has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, evening shift, Supervisor of Materials & Logistics.The UW Medicine Supply Chain Management Supervisor, Materials & Logistics is based at UWMC-Montlake Medical Stores and supports and reports directly to the Manager, Materials & Logistics. This position is accountable for the collaborative integration, implementation, and optimization of the UW Medicine Materials & Logistics strategy at the entity level in close coordination with the Manager, Materials & Logistics. This position is responsible for daily supervision of all supply chain materials and logistics functions to include distribution, picking, put-away, par management, and point-of-use technology. The Supervisor develops and conducts employee annual performance reviews and participates in budget development under the direction of the Manager, Materials & Logistic.
SCHEDULE Monday-Thursday from 6pm-3:30am, Sunday 3:30-7:30pm
Provide day-to-day supervision of department staff, which includes: scheduling work; monitoring performance to ensure compliance with guidelines, policies, and procedures; providing feedback on performance; and writing and conducting performance reviews.
Act on behalf of the Manager in his/her absence as directed.
Develop distribution procedures, job standards, and evaluation criteria in coordination with the Manager
Monitor and maintain the department budget
Assist as necessary with product recalls and/or returns
Develop, maintain, and monitor distribution systems in coordination with the specific departments involved
Maintain and monitor departments’ KPIs/metrics, and take action or make recommendations based on analysis of information
Monitor labor hours reporting and make adjustments to staffing as appropriate
Conduct orientation and in-services education programs for staff
Coordinate all computer- and procedure-based training for Supply Chain Materials & Logistics employees
Develop and expand training documentation for the Materials Management Information System
Optimize use of Materials Management Information System and other Supply Chain automation tools that work to eliminate unnecessary work, simplify necessary work, centralize simplified work, and automate centralized work
Monitor the supply areas for neatness and cleanliness to ensure they meet the Joint Commission and OSHA standards and take action as appropriate to ensure compliance
Work with departments to ensure inventory needs are consistently met, utilizing dashboards and other analytic tools and reports
Participate in project teams and committees as necessary
Participate in professional activities to keep abreast of changes and developments in the Supply Chain Management profession
Conduct periodic rounding of all customer units, auditing employee performance, and reviewing units’ inventory needs
Under the direction of the Manager and other Supply Chain leadership, work with UW Medicine system staff to implement system-wide inventory strategy and improve supply chain performance through a reduction in obsolete inventory, improvements in inventory turns, and improvement in inventory replenishment processes
Apply and enforce procurement separation of function practices in accordance with the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and accounting practices for establishing appropriate inventory management controls, utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Serve as a customer service advocate and ensure staff responds to all customer requests and requirements in a highly responsive and professional manner
Recruit, hire, and set performance expectations of direct reports
Perform evaluations, counseling, corrective action, and train staff according to system-wide policies and procedures
Identify, coach, and/or mentor top talent for leadership opportunities and succession management
Create a foundation that supports and develops team members allowing for growth and success
Other duties as assigned or directed
REQUIREMENTS High school graduation or equivalent AND four years of experience processing complex trays of surgical instruments and equipment OR four years of Supply Chain experience OR equivalent experience.
Healthcare experience preferred.
Associate’s Degree or higher.
Proficiency in utilizing the MMIS.
Knowledge of general office equipment such a fax machines, copy machines, and printers.
Ability to work in a busy, high-pressure environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders to include coworkers, management, and clinical partners.
Demonstrated proficiency in English, both written and verbal, including active listening.
Demonstrated proficiency in customer service and problem-solving.
Knowledge and competent use of Microsoft office products.
