UWMC Radiology Support Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist 3 (Full Time, Day Shifts).
Patient Services Specialist 3 will be working directly with our Financial Clearing Department, Radiology Scheduling Supervisor, Radiology Business Manager, Radiology Schedulers, Insurance companies, referring clinics, patients, family members, and patient case workers; In Epic, create all referrals for radiology exams to include exam specific CPT, ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes , include clinical information to assist in eligibility, clearance, and authorization. Answer questions and assist with follow up and research during the entire insurance eligibility and clearance process. Perform Radiology scheduling requests for the scheduling patient Pre-Admissions attached to outpatient appointments. Complete patient Registration needs by creating and updating demographics, guarantor accounts, and insurance payor’s requested by Radiology scheduling team. Participate in process improvement projects working with Financial Clearing Department, Radiology Scheduling Supervisor, Radiology Business Manager, Radiology Imaging Modality Supervisor’s, and Radiologist’s to help capture and implement workflow and process improvements regarding external referral submissions, payor authorization, imaging protocol and coding changes, and patient access to ensure we are meeting our patient’s needs as well as the department’s financial stability and success. Always using our AIDET tool (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You) to promote trust, reduce anxiety and ensure understanding when communicating on each call.
Telephone Usage •Has a well-modulated tone of voice •Uses appropriate cadence and verbiage for each client, i.e., older patient, non-Native English speaker, etc. •Use professional phone manners •Use appropriate call management, i.e., the ability to control the direction and timing of the call •Is able to transfer calls and make conference calls •Understand the basics of the phone system (Avaya Contact Center)
