The function of the Radiology Hospital Aide for the Department of Diagnostic Imaging is to provide essential customer service support. The Radiology Hospital Aide completes organizational and exam preparation tasks with the purpose of assisting patients and OHSU Staff to complete diagnostic procedures. They are to assist with an array of clinical and clerical duties. Their primary responsibility is to assist with providing a safe and customer friendly environment within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging.
Direct patient contact is an essential part of this position and the aide is expected to work within all areas of the department. The Imaging Services department has designated areas were ionizing radiation and strong magnetic fields are present. At no time is the employee required to be in designated areas where X-Ray/CT radiation is actively being delivered. The aide will be expected to work in areas of strong magnetic fields (MRI) and radioisotope exposure (Nuclear Medicine and PET).
Supports patient safety needs and provides patient monitoring. Provides patient with non-technical exam information.
Picks up supplies from pharmacy, cafeteria, etc.
Reviews and verifies that all upcoming imaging protocols have been completed by a radiologist, and notifies a technologists if there are some that are incomplete.
Provides patient transportation and escorts patients throughout the hospital as needed (inpatients and outpatients).
Stocks linen in exam rooms and stocks supplies in the holding areas.
Is flexible about rotating from one area of Diagnostic Radiology to another with ease.
Assists with the lifting, moving, and transfer of non-ambulatory patients.

High School Diploma or GED.
Patient care x 6 months in eitheremployed or in a volunteer role.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Current approved BLS card required.

Previous Radiology aide experience preferred. Familiarity with CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET and General radiology imaging processes to assist with multi-tasked duties. Experience with patient preparation for CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET and General radiology exams preferred.
Experience with Agfa RIS, Epic, and PACS systems. Knowledge of ordering systems, using both logistics and outside vendors preferred.
