RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 1 , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research - Li Lab , to assist with lab administration and pursue high impact research projects investigating the underlying biology of hematopoiesis. The lab is led by a physician-scientist who also treats patients with cancer and blood disorders. The lab focusses on understanding fundamental mechanisms of human blood disorders and developing novel therapeutics, with a dedicated focus on training the next generation of scientists. Will perform data input and basic lab support functions and lab administration duties such as maintaining lab calendar and directories; participating in planning/executing lab events, including lab meetings; maintaining vendor relationships and equipment service contracts/records; scheduling maintenance and repair of equipment; and assisting with maintaining laboratory inventory, including common lab supplies and reagents. Data/analysis responsibilities include updating/maintaining laboratory databases; conducting online research; generating standardized reports; using web software to input, update, and maintain web content.
The position is ideal for someone interested in performing cutting edge research in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Will receive extensive one-on-one mentoring from the principal investigator.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent and willingness to work with and learn mice handling. PREFERRED : bachelor's degree in biological/chemical sciences; exposure to a research lab; basic cell or molecular biology laboratory skills; experience with molecular biology and handling micropipettes, sterile technique in mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, and mice handling; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
