Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Location: Illinois: Chicago
Direct 3-4 applied research projects focused on homelessness/housing, college access and success, workforce development, or financial stability.
Mentor research and project staff, providing scientific direction and ensuring the rigor and quality of all work.
Conduct data analyses and oversee the work of junior analysts.
Contribute to strategic conversations about which new projects and initiatives the Inclusive Economy Lab should take on.
Work collaboratively with practitioners and policy makers to develop and implement applied research projects.
Contribute to the scientific content of research proposals.
Disseminate research findings to both research and practitioner/policy maker audiences.
Serve as a member of the Inclusive Economy Labâ™s management team.
Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Â
Ph.D. in economics, sociology, public policy, or other relevant social/mathematical science field
A minimum of one year of relevant research experience; experience gained in school counts towards requirement.
Working knowledge with large and complex datasets.
Proficiency with one or more languages such as R, Stata, Python, or SAS.
Background with relational databases.
Participation working on field experiments
Involved in working with GIS and UNIX servers.
Familiarity with randomized controlled trials.
Knowledge of workforce development institutions and policy.
Background working with local organizations in workforce development.
Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders.
Strong time management skills with a proven ability to multitask and to prioritize activities to successfully complete projects on tight deadlines with little supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data in a simple and straightforward way for non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment.
