The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide clinic appropriate care. The Nurse Practitioner will work in accordance with established policies, evaluates patients in Pediatric Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients in the pediatric emergency department and for hospitalized pediatric patients and at Bloomberg Children’s’ Center.To include a history, mental status examination and contact with collateral sources.
Coordinate communication with the medical team and the psychiatry physicians.
Assess patient’s needs for medication management, prescribe medications and monitor treatment response, order tests and other assessments.
Assess necessity for higher level of care, such as inpatient hospitalization.
Adhere to Service Excellence Standards:Customer Relations, Self-Management, Teamwork, Communications, Ownership/Accountability, and Continuous Performance Improvement
Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Master's degree in nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Must be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing. Additional experience may substitute for master's degree.Current CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date.
JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years direct patient care experience

Advanced clinical skills in specialty area or equivalent.
General computer knowledge and capability to use computer.
Ability to incorporate into practice theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health care team members.
Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team to enhance collaboration and problem solving.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in order to provide information to patients and health care personnel.
Ability to function effectively in a fluid, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.
Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.
