The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, Graduate School Public Health (GSPH) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-stream faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. We are seeking a qualified candidate, Ph.D. and/or M.D., with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and training in environmental health sciences. The individual must have experience with the studies of interplay among environmental exposures, epidemiologic endpoints, and genomic features, and the effects of their interplay on health and disease risk. Experience can include: a) exposure field studies done in collaboration with epidemiologists, particularly in vulnerable populations; b) computational approaches and modeling linking health and exposures, including use of electronic medical records, c) pathobiologic responses and biomarkers linking exposure to human disease etiology and risks. Responsibilities may include collaboration with toxicologists to validate biomarkers of exposure and/or effect, epidemiologists, and risk assessment faculty for community based studies identifying vulnerable populations, health inequities, and assessing and conveying risk in contemporary fashion.

Applicants will be expected to show a history of leadership in environmental health sciences, with a strong and current track record of research funding and involvement in graduate education. Opportunities exist for collaborative interactions and co-appointments in programs with long-standing excellence in our Departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Human Genetics and Behavioral Community Health Sciences (GSPH), Civil and Environmental Engineering, and/or appropriate departments in the School of Medicine and/or Dietrich College of Arts and Sciences. Collaborations and infrastructure available via other specialized centers and institutes in health sciences include the Epidemiology Data Center, Public Health Dynamics, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Asthma and Environmental Lung Health Institute, Magee Women's Research Institute, and others. Further collaborations and support are available from outstanding resources in genomics, structural and computational biology and toxicology, biomedical informatics, computational sciences, and engineering at University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and direct an outstanding independent research program in environmental and molecular epidemiology, and to participate in graduate teaching and advising. An attractive start-up package and a competitive salary have been committed.
