Summary of Essential Job Duties:

• This full time nine-month position (1.0 FTE, 9 months) provides retention-focused services for eligible low-income first generation students according to Student Support Services (SSS) grant stipulations such that they achieve persistence and graduation rates comparable to LMU students who are not SSS eligible. The position reports to the Director of the Student Support Services (SSS TRIO) Grant-Ignacio Program

Educational Requirements:

• Typically a Master's Degree in counseling, student personnel administration, or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes

Minimum Qualifications:

• Typically a Master's Degree in counseling, student personnel administration, or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.

• Minimum 2 years providing academic advising, financial aid advising, and career guidance and related services to SSS eligible students at the post-secondary level experience in progressively responsible positions.

• Minimum at least 2 years' experience providing counseling services to students from low income, first generation backgrounds or students with disabilities at the post-secondary level

• Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: counseling, academic and financial aid advising and career guidance

• Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.

• Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.

• Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of relevant systems, such as Blumen.
