Rider University invites applications for a Databases & Applications Manager. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, this individual will provide primary technical leadership, management, and administration of Rider University's database environments as well as associated applications and integrations. The candidate will be provided the opportunity to enhance and maintain the reporting Business Intelligence datastore environment. The successful candidate will: coordinate, plan, design, develop and implement activities and tasks associated with the management and support of the University's administrative systems; troubleshoot and diagnose application and database problems as required and creatively develop programmatic enhancements, fixes, and new functionality; provide analysis of vendor supplied software and determine the optimum configuration for interfaces between hardware, database management systems and application systems; recommend the establishment of and enforce standards relating to use of system software, data and security; and evaluate systems and make recommendations for improvements.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or any combination of related education and experience
At least 5 years' experience in a similar position preferably in education
Formal hands-on experience with database/system administration
Knowledge of identity management
Knowledge of relational database structure and design
Demonstrated knowledge of Unix scripting
Knowledge of and experience with Administrative Systems pertaining to system administration
Experienced and committed to adhering to and enforcing data security and privacy
Demonstrated ability to work both independently or in a team environment
Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and be an effective team player
Ability to think creatively and logically, and manage multiple, concurrent priorities
Demonstrated success in developing project timelines and completing projects on time
Organizational ability, strong problem solving skills
Must be customer-service oriented with strong written, electronic, and oral communication skills
5 years' experience in a multi-vendor system environment
Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Experience with Banner and Cognos/ODS
