The technician A will work closely with the PI and research team in the Basic Science Research Group in the Division of Surgical Science at Department of Surgery at Columbia University. The technician A will perform multiple assignments under direct supervision, including managing and maintaining mouse colonies, genotyping and excel data entry, and performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory.
Preparing materials for and assisting in experiments
Performing simple experiments according to written protocols
Ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies
Maintaining a lab notebook or records related to task
Assisting in the collection of lab chemical wastes.
Managing and maintaining mouse colonies, cutting mouse tails and Excel Data entry.
Preparing solutions, isolating DNA, performing PCR, preparing and running agarose gels, detecting DNA and recording the results.
Performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory, research project or work unit
Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in Health Sciences, Business, or other financial/computer/tech-related studies
One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience
Previous experience working in clinical trials is preferred
Intermediate MS Office skills
Must be able to successfully complete systems training requirements.
