This is a senior level position in Dr. Andrew Adams’ Lab within the Department of Surgery. This position will work under the direction of the Primary Investigator, Dr, Adams. The purpose of the Researcher 6 position is to lead in the areas of investigation of our lab. Those areas are (1) costimulation blockade and costimulation independent rejection (2) xenotransplantation (3) transplant diagnostics (4) transplant outcomes.
The Researcher 6 performs a wide range of highly technical and complex research duties and has documented scientific achievements and increasing technical, management, leadership, and professional expertise necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs.
Analyze, design and interpret results of research and experimental platforms. Investigates and recommends potential alternative approaches to improve the quality of results of basic and/or translational research. Expertise in advanced flow cytometry, cell sorting, and cell cutlure/differentiation are highly desired although not required.
Manage teams and lead scientific projects by applying advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development, as well as facilitating in some training aspects of other team members.
Aid in writing IACUC, IRB, Biosafety and other approval documents.
Oversees quality assurance of research conducted by other team members.
May assist in grant and other funding applications as necessary and appropriate, or with approval of the responsible faculty director, may have their own research projects and/or have full responsibilities for specific areas of instrumentation or methodology development and user support.
Performs other responsibilities as required.

PhD or MD and five years of professional level experience OR Master's degree and ten years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
Laboratory experience will be based on area of assignment.
Demonstrated knowledge of research and experimental platforms.
Demonstrated experience managing teams and leading projects, developing protocols and training other team members.
