VICE CHAIR - DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE

The University of Tennessee, Graduate School of Medicine, the Knoxville regional campus of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, TN, seeks a dynamic leader and educator to join the faculty as Vice Chair in the Department of Medicine. The Department of Medicine includes 17 divisions and comprises more than 150 faculty members dedicated to the tripartite mission of clinical care, education, and research. In addition to thriving Internal Medicine Residency and Transitional Year programs, there are well-established fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and Pulmonary Disease/Critical Care Medicine and plans are underway for expansion into additional fellowships in other fields of medicine.

This is a non-tenure track, academic appointment that offers a highly competitive compensation package with dedicated time for pursuing academic and scholarly activity.

The Vice-Chair will be responsible for performance improvement and faculty development projects, oversee departmental CME, monitor faculty credentialing, and participate in various academic and hospital committees among other responsibilities.

The Vice-Chair position will be a joint position with the University Health System, the clinical entity on the campus, and if offers an ideal opportunity to practice excellent medicine, teach, and have a productive research and academic career in a collaborative environment.

Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

We are seeking a clinician-educator with strong leadership and organization skills, with previous senior-level management experience in an academic healthcare organization. The applicant must have a record of accomplishment at a national or international level in their field of expertise and a strong interest in pursuing research and scholarly activity. The candidate must be board certified by the American Board or American Osteopathic Board in Internal Medicine or a sub-specialty board, preferably geriatrics and/or hospice and palliative medicine. Qualifications also include eligibility to obtain a license to practice medicine in Tennessee.
