The School of Marine Sciences and Ocean Engineering (SMSOE) and the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) invite applications for the Director of a new Sustainable Seafood Systems Center with a target starting date of June or July 2021. The Center will be a convergent nexus for realizing the next generation of sustainable seafood systems through advancements in engineering, fisheries, aquaculture, and oceanography, and through engaged scholarship. Director candidates with expertise in mechanics/dynamics/biochemistry across a range of aquaculture systems scales that may include ocean structures, environmental sensing, systems dynamics, or advanced materials are particularly encouraged to apply. The Director will have access to UNHâs substantial range of campus and marine facilities and will lead the development of new programming opportunities, research initiatives, and industry engagement. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed at the associate or full professor level in the School of Marine Sciences and Ocean Engineering and either the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Successful candidates will provide evidence of ability to i) Lead an interdisciplinary center in sustainable seafood; ii) Establish and maintain a productive engaged research program that builds bridges between UNH and other universities, government laboratories, industry, and local and global communities; iii) Develop and deliver academic programming related to sustainable seafood systems that contributes to both their academic department and the SMSOE; iv) Successfully mentor undergraduate and graduate students; and v) Foster a culture that embodies diversity, equity and inclusion. This position will be a full-time academic year tenure track appointment.
