The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:
Working with Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine attending physicians to perform inpatient consultations on the general pediatric rehabilitation medicine consult service for patients with neurologic conditions (such as brain injury, spinal cord injury; etc), orthopedic conditions (such as polytrauma; etc), and other conditions (including a multitude of diagnoses ranging from critical illnesses to oncologic conditions and psychiatric conditions; etc) resulting in functional impairment or disability.
Providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.
Working with Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine attending physicians to care for the functional and rehabilitation needs of patients with various disabilities (including but not limited to neuromuscular disorders, spina bifida, limb differences, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and cerebal palsy). Additional work may be done with patients with musculoskeletal/sports medicine concerns in patients with and without disability.
Perform phone calls to families of patients with the above diagnoses, assisting with answering key functional, rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal concerns that arise.
Assist with/provide caregiver training regarding a multitude of topics including safety with conditions related to disability, including educating on topics such as autonomic dysreflexia in spinal cord injury.one calls (such as peer-to-peer calls, or discussions with school nurses or community therapists) regarding inpatients and outpatients with the above diagnoses.
To qualify, you must have:
A Master's degree in Nursing and current NP license.
1-2 years related experience.
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills.
