Maintaining and protecting the safety and health of BNL employees, the public, and the environment is our mission. Our staff provides subject matter experts, centralized services, and deployed services in construction safety, electrical safety, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, and total worker safety & health programs.
In this unique position, the incumbent will serve as the institution's Injury Management Officer and Secretary for various Safety Committees, such as the Secretary of the Laboratory Environment, Safety and Health Committee, the Laboratory Electrical Advisory Safety Committee, the LOTO Practices Working Group, and the Electrical Safety Strategic Pre-Plan Committees. The incumbent will also be trained to support the human subjects research program and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) across various agencies. Additional responsibilities will include providing administrative support to the group responsible for facility readiness evaluations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (bulleted)
Manage Injury Management Program.
OSHA Record keeper, input injuries into IOPS, perform quarterly CAIRS reporting, annual BLS report and maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs.
Provide reports as required.
Function as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Injury Management.
Coordinate and schedule meetings, organize presentations for meetings, take detailed minutes, record action items, establish and maintain correspondence files and other records for committees and post relevant information to websites.
Administration of Readiness Evaluations
Enter and track data/information through the Assessment Tracking System (ATS).
Track, review, analyze, and report on a variety of safety functions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (bulleted)
A bachelor's degree in a related business field or equivalent experience generally based on 2:1 (experience: college) years, plus four years related work experience showing progressively more complex responsibilities.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communications, presentation, influencing, and negotiations.
Discretion in handling confidential and/or highly sensitive matters.
Ability to exercise sound judgment with advanced problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Word).
Working knowledge of Peoplesoft.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (bulleted)
Work experience related to human and animal subjects research.
Detailed knowledge of the federal, state, and local regulations that pertain to human subjects and animal research.
Experience developing and implementing training related to human subject and animal research.
Management experience with budget responsibility.
Experience related to OSHA Injury Reporting.
Certified Institutional Review Board Professional (CIP).
Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA) or other appropriate certification as a research professional.
Will require occasional travel to national research conferences.
