FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, SPONSORED ACTIVITY , Chemistry , to serve a key member of the department's finance team. Will report to the senior financial officer and work closely with the financial administrator on coordinating the preparation, review, and submission of budgets and grant proposals for sponsored research. This includes those with cost sharing and underrecovery of F&A; preparing faculty requests for pre- and post-award research costs, including no-cost extensions and underrecovery requests; assisting with salary distribution and Roles Database authorization requests; and managing pre- and post-award activities, including creating/maintaining financial tracking systems. Other responsibilities include monthly review/resolution of account overruns and closeouts; managing/preparing billings for service centers, forecasting revenue/expenses and developing reports; allocating department facilities and copying charges; financial management of principal investigators' accounts, including forecasting and monthly reviews; collaborating on monitoring and analyzing financial review and control compliance reports; overseeing risky transactions, unassigned travel, swept credit card charges, etc.; serving as ProCard verifier; assisting with fiscal year-end closing procedures; and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; two years' experience, preferably in university accounting; strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills; proven ability to meet deadlines and oversee a variety of accounting transactions, including purchase orders, journal vouchers, and invoices; attention to detail; strong Excel skills, familiarity with the SAPgui or similar accounting package, and willingness to learn new systems/software as needed and to keep up-to-date on sponsor and MIT accounting policies; ability to develop strong working relationships with a variety of faculty, support staff, and other MIT departments.
