Vanguard University of Southern California, a private faith-based educational institution, seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty as Director of Nursing. This position provides leadership and vision in developing and expanding current and new programs (prelicensure BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN). Currently there is an MSN option in Educational Leadership and the development of a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner MSN program is planned pending University and BRN approval. Nursing is currently located in the Division of Health Sciences and the Director will function as the academic leader of the Nursing Programs. The Nursing Director currently reports to the Associate Provost/Dean of the College.
Inspire confidence, lead innovation, and ensure program growth and alignment with the University and Nursing Department strategic plan.
Provide oversight of the prelicensure BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN programs and program chairs.
Responsible for individual scholarship (e.g., independent research), university service, community service, and outreach.
Facilitate and support individual faculty scholarship and promote interdepartmental collaboration, university committee and community service.
Maintain an appropriate teaching load and counsel and advise students.
Oversee the development and evaluation of current and new programs while ensuring curricula are designed to prepare graduates for workplace changes and complexities.
Lead the Commission Collegiate Nursing (CCNE) accreditation and nursing program evaluation processes and is active in local, statewide, and national organizations.
Recruit, hire, and evaluate new staff and nursing faculty, in conjunction with department faculty, related to administrative duties and teaching nursing courses across programs.
Conduct/ensure yearly evaluations of faculty and staff with regular and timely performance evaluation and feedback.
Participate in departmental and university decision-making and shared governance.
Mitigate risk in all areas of the program
RN and Ph.D. or other acceptable doctoral preparation, terminal nursing degree preferred.
Expertise in program and curriculum development and program assessment.
Knowledge and experience of nursing and regional accreditation processes.
Continued interest in conducting and mentoring student research.
Proven educational excellence and willingness to teach nursing courses.
Experience with obtaining extramural funding.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills that produce effective and collegial faculty and student interactions one-on-one and in groups.
Sincere interest in assisting each student, within a diverse and multi-cultural learning community, to maximize their academic, spiritual, and personal potential.
