Description of Work:
Individual will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to collect data samples from field grown plants, developing and implementing high-throughput assays and sample extraction strategies in the lab, designing protocols, and ordering kits and supplies. Individual will verify datasets in Excel to ensure correct outcomes are realized and will coordinate with other lab members and collaborators conducting experiments and revising goals and approaches.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in plant sciences or related field plus three years of laboratory or related experience. Detailed knowledge of molecular biology, plant genetics, and laboratory automation. High level familiarity with common maize lines, controlled pollination procedures for maize and sorghum, pesticide safety, seed treatment and storage, and database management.
Master’s degree in plant sciences or related field. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of faculty, staff, and students across different levels and areas of expertise (both experimental and computational). Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously; work independently as well as part of a team; and strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
Posted Salary: $43,354/yr. minimum
