The Center is recruiting one or more scholars for open rank/tenure track positions. The Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and has received approximately $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. With a team of 10 full-time faculty and 15 skilled research and support staff, the Center's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality. The Center is also home to one of only nine funded NIH/FDA Tobacco Centers for Regulatory Science (TCORS).
Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to develop and lead a program of research in tobacco control, tobacco regulatory science and/or tobacco treatment/ dependence. Successful candidate(s) will be expected to leverage their extramural research track record and build a robustly funded program of research at Rutgers University. The successful applicant(s) for this recruitment will hold a joint appointment at the Center and the Rutgers School/Department that is most compatible with the faculty member's line of scholarly inquiry. The Center will provide space and research support services and, as a core member of the Center, the successful candidate(s) will be eligible for discretionary funding, pilot project support, and other resources to facilitate the advancement of their research portfolio. Examples of areas of specific interest and expertise to this recruitment include, but are not limited to: Tobacco control interventions – especially those aimed at promoting health equity; Tobacco regulatory science; Tobacco cessation and treatment interventions; and Dissemination and implementation science focused on evidence-based practices aimed at reducing tobacco use
Minimum Education and Experience:
An earned doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, such as public health, pharmacology/toxicology, health communication, public policy, or health services research is required. Candidates with degrees in medicine, nursing or other clinical fields who also have advanced research training and experience are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated success in developing extramurally-funded research is essential. While our emphasis is on recruitment of mid-career or senior faculty candidates, early stage applicants who have demonstrated high potential via extramural awards as Principal Investigator (e.g., K awards, R03/R21) will be considered. We are seeking candidates with exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated track record in information dissemination to broad and diverse audiences through publications, presentations, and webinars. .
