What you will be doing in this role:
The Blood Gas Lab Technician performs all approved blood gas analysis procedures as described in the Blood Gas Lab Policies and Procedures Reference Manual. These procedures include analysis of age specific sample types from newborn, pediatric and adult patient populations. The Blood Gas Lab Technician communicates blood gas results within policy stipulated time frames, identifies, reports and logs critical blood gas values, performs proficiency testing sample analysis for blood gas and cooximetry samples. The Blood Gas Lab Technician performs quality control procedures, simple trouble-shooting, and routine preventive maintenance at policy intervals on all blood gas analysis equipment. The Blood Gas Technician adheres to lab safety and infection control policies at all times.
Graduate of an AMA approved School of Respiratory Therapy with course background in blood gas analysis.
Must be currently licensed by the State of California as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
Blood Gas Lab experience preferred.
