Provides expertise in support of research projects in engineering, biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, etc. Prepares and edits research papers, proposal, and reports. The successful candidate will have the skills and experience necessary to manage a busy academic NMR research facility that includes JEOL 600, 500, and 400-MHz NMR instruments. Experience with multi-nuclear, multi-dimensional, and low temperature NMR experiments is required. Experience with solid-state NMR is desirable. Job duties include instructing new users with diverse skill sets in the safe and effective use of the NMR instruments, assisting experienced users conduct experiments, troubleshooting instrument software and hardware issues in collaboration with the Department's electronics technician, serving as a liaison with JEOL technicians in solving software and hardware problems remotely, conducting routine maintenance, including cryogen replenishment and probe cleaning, and gathering and submitting user billing information on a monthly basis. A PhD degree is strongly preferred.
