Location Headquarters.  Lindcove Research and Extension Center, Exeter, CA

Purpose. The Area Citrus IPM Advisor is responsible for conducting research, extension and education programs in integrated pest management for arthropod pests of citrus with the goal of improving production and economic viability of citrus production in the San Joaquin Valley.

1. Address issues in management of arthropod pests of citrus using IPM strategies through applied research and extension education programs to disseminate information to San Joaquin Valley citrus production and industry clientele.
2. Support pest management in citrus production throughout California.
3. The Area IPM Advisor will be a member of the University of California Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program (ipm.ucanr.edu) and will participate in UC IPM activities, including development and review of UC IPM online and print publication, organizational meetings, and other programmatic activities relevant to the mission and strategic plan of the Program.

Opportunities abound for research and extension partnerships that link growers and resource professionals with relevant science-based information and promote effective problem solving.  You will also join a team of highly motivated UCCE colleagues who are passionate about their work and are dedicated to making a difference within the communities and working landscapes of California. The potential for collaborative projects within the UC ANR system is nearly limitless.

This position is co-funded by Citrus Research Board for a period of ten years with intent for co-funded renewal. Continuation beyond the initial ten-year term is contingent upon agreement by both UC ANR and Citrus Research Board, with review of need and available funding taking place before the term end date. This is not an academic career-track appointment and is not eligible for indefinite status.

Counties of Responsibility. This position is focused on citrus IPM in Tulare, Fresno, Madera, and Kern Counties. There is opportunity to work collaboratively statewide.

Reporting Relationship: The CE advisor serves under the administrative guidance of the Director of the University of California Lindcove Research and Extension Center and under the programmatic guidance of the Director of the University of California Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program.
