The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is a large, diverse multi-site department whose mission is to create a healthier world through bold innovation in public health, education, technology and research. Responsibilities The Sendouts Laboratory Processing Supervisor oversees both Anatomic Pahtology and Clinical Pathology Sendouts Lab section of UCDHS Laboratory. Supervisors adhere to all departmental and governing organizations' polices and guidelines, and ensures effective and efficient operations of the section's pre-analytical performance. This position also oversees staff training and competency, investigates problems and recommends solutions that provide efficient specimen handling.
Current/valid State of California issued Certified Phlebotomy Technician License.
Previous supervisory and/or lead experience.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of employee progressive disciplinary steps, Collect Bargaining Agreements and Human Resources Leaves of Absence ( i.e., FMLA, KinCare, Workers' Compensation, etc.).
Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of hospital and Laboratory Information System (LIS), EMR, hospital Incident Report System (RL Solutions), email, Internet, Microsoft Office and data management software.
Knowledge of and applies the principles of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Quality Improvement.
Ability to timely manage staff with fairness and respect and follow the Principles of Community.
Ability to work productively in a busy and complex environment, meet deadlines and to remain flexible within a variety of changing demands.

Special Requirements Variable shifts and be 'On Call' as needed. Shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Work overtime as necessary. Required to acquire 6 units of continuing education biennially as required to maintain license. This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
