This posting will hire two (2) academic coordinators. One will serve Christian County, KY and the other will serve the Charleston, Marshall, Calloway and Henry counties.
Responsible for the coordination of the academic program and recording of program information. Maintaining account records, files, and documentation, compiling and preparing reports, and timely processing of documents.
Responsible for actively identifying and selecting student participants.
Providing student participants with admissions and financial aid advising.
Responsible for adding, amending, suspending, and/or reactivating participant information into Blumen Database
Maintain current and complete academic records on all participants
Recommend and assist the Director in hiring instructors for summer components
Coordinate tutorial services and maintain tutoring log records for participants
Providing student participants with admissions and financial aid advising
Providing student participants with academic and career advising as appropriate to their needs/grade level.
Coordinate academic and student skills workshops
Supervise workshop instructors, summer school instructors and RA’s
Completing and tracking requirements for the Summer Food Service Program
Documenting follow-up status of all student participants.
Coordinating special events.
Maintaining current information concerning college admission procedures and financial aid regulations.
Maintaining a participation workload.
Coordination of college exploration and cultural enrichment activities and trips. Monthly visits to target schools to follow up with students and teachers
Process travel documents for college trips and school visits
Assist in submission of annual report to USDOE by obtaining student transcripts, test scores, and using the National Student Clearinghouse.
Maintaining professional development standards.
Work with program files and participant records in order to measure and document participant progress and program effectiveness, and compliance with USDOE guidelines.
Monitor academic progress of participants and submit monthly student tracking and stipend reports for payment
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
Travel to represent programs at federal grantee meetings and attend conferences for professional development
Performs extra related duties as may be assigned by the Upward Bound Project Director
Minimum Education Requirements:
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
Minimum of two (2) years of position related experience, preferably in an office setting.
Experience working with youth who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education and low income/first generation students
Experience working with secondary students, parents, and high school personnel.
Knowledge of college admissions, academic requirements and financial aid process.
Excellent time management and oral/written communication skills.
Should be able to indicate prior experience working with students from a variety of cultural/ethnic backgrounds.
Formal training and/or work experience in fields related to: Academic Performance; Secondary school retention and graduation; Postsecondary enrollment and Postsecondary completion for low-income and potential first-generation college students.
Should be able to indicate professional and personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the student population from which participants will be served.
Knowledge of USDOE general administrative regulations.
Knowledge of adolescent developmental issues and skills to address the complex problems teenagers face
Must demonstrate good problem solving and team work skills
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, database software and web-based forms
Working knowledge of different TRiO programs and program regulations and requirements
Demonstrated in planning, written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks and work well with professionals from various related fields
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Must be able to travel to target schools
Must attend training’s and professional developments
