The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Visual Communications (VIS) department to begin Fall 2021.
The successful candidate will primarily teach various forms of cinematography, video storytelling and production for students studying video and photography. Candidates who have both cinematography and directing in in their background are highly desirable.
While the main responsibility is to teach video storytelling and production broadly, the ideal candidate should also demonstrate versatility and specialization, in both practice and teaching, in at least one of the following:
- Cinematography - Lighting - Directing and producing - Production design - Post-production supervision and workflow, including editing, color-correction, finishing, and media management
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate potential for conducting academic scholarship or producing industry-related creative activity that will position the hire as a recognized expert in the field. Participation in service and committee work for the department, the Newhouse School, and Syracuse University is expected.
