Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Educator Support Specialist (Applied Practice Experience) for the Office for Academic Affairs within the School of Public Health.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and with the assistance of the Practicum Coordinators through the Office of Practice, the Applied Practice Experience Support Specialist will be responsible for supervising student practice and practicum capstone experiences required in the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program at the Rutgers School of Public Health (SPH). This position guides students through the practice and practicum capstone experiences as well as reviews and evaluates students' practice and practicum capstone work products / deliverables.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Supervises students completing the required MPH practice and/or practicum capstone experiences to ensure quality and consistency with identified MPH program goals and objectives.
Provides guidance and feedback to students regarding suitable practice and practicum capstone experiences based on students’ interest, skill sets and career goals while meeting School policies and procedures.
Ensures students understanding of and compliance with practice and practicum capstone experiences' requirements, including timely submission of all related deliverables.
Approves student practice and practicum capstone experiences including signing off on students' Learning Agreements, workplans, and proposed work products/deliverables in a timely manner.
Reviews, provides feedback on, and assesses students' work products and deliverables with regards to practice and practicum capstone experiences in a timely manner.
Coordinates with the Office of Practice as related to MPH practice and/or practicum capstone experiences.
Familiarizes students with the real-world environment in which public health practice and/or public health research is conducted.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master of Public Health degree (MPH) or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in public health (five (5) years preferred).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal, administrative and computer skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship to other individuals.
Must be a team-player, innovative and a self-starter with motivation to contribute to the overall goals of the MPH practice and/or practicum capstone experiences.
Doctoral degree in Public Health or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in public health.
Master of Public Health degree (MPH) or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in public health.
Experience with using a Learning Management System, such as Canvas.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
