The New School seeks a Student Support Coordinator (Temporary) position in the Office of Student Support and Crisis Management (SSCM). The Student Support Coordinator will advise students on crisis-related services for students throughout the university and provide administrative and organizational support to assist staff. The position reports to the Interim Director of Student Support and Crisis Management and Assistant Dean of Students.
Responsibilities ●Provides front line, general advising and support to students, staff and other members of the community in person, over the phone or via email for the office of SSCM. ●Maintains and monitors multiple Student Support and Crisis Management email accounts (Emergency fund, SSCM, Food Pantry). ●Assistants in the management of the health leave process, which includes answering questions, processing paperwork, and communicating updates. ●Serves as the first point of contact during the business day to triage concerns pertaining to students. ●Assists with communicating emergency funds application updates and decisions. ●Serves as a liaison to Student Financial Services for the emergency fund committee. ●Gathers, organize and manage data that is used for the emergency fund committee. ●Works with SSCM team to identify and refer appropriate resources to faculty and staff who are working with students of concern. ●Responds to general inquiries from faculty, staff, and students. ●Assists with the administrative management of the food pantry which includes ordering food and materials. ●Assists with monitoring the workload, customer assistance, and job duties of student workers. ●Assists in coordination of departmental events by reserving rooms, placing audio/visual equipment and maintenance requests, printing, distributing and organizing of material as needed. ●Gathers and manage student support monthly data and prepare detailed reports ●Other duties as assigned

●Bachelor's degree and two (2) to three (3) years of progressive experience with administrative responsibilities. ●Strong administrative, customer service and organizational skills in a high volume environment and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously. ●Able to exercise sound judgment and manage high-stress situations. ●Interests and experience in working in a multicultural environment. ●Basic understanding of the issues facing college students and their families. ●Able to handle confidential student information in a sensitive manner. ●Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various constituencies including staff, faculty, students, and parents.
●Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology) ●Experience working with case management in higher education, clinical, or medical environment. ●Experience working with students/individuals in crisis situations. ●Previous experience at an urban and/or arts-focused institution.
