Stony Brook University admitted its inaugural cohort of students in summer, 2020. The Speech-Language Pathology Department is seeking an applicant to fill a 12-month non-tenure track position with a start date in summer 2021. The faculty member will be primarily responsible for providing clinical services at Southampton Hospital, advising/supervising students, as well as some teaching of Speech-Language Pathology courses, and providing professional service to the school, university, community and profession. The Clinical Instructor must demonstrate a commitment, interest and competency in working with students from diverse cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
The Speech-Language Pathology graduate program has received Candidacy for Accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The graduate program has three education tracks. Track I is 63 credits and it allows students to be eligible for their ASHA Certification only. Track II is 73 credits and it allows students to be eligible for their ASHA Certification and NYS TSSLD. Track III is 85 credits and allows students to be eligible for ASHA Certification, NYS TSSLD, and Bilingual Certification in Spanish.
The department of Speech Language Pathology is housed on the Stony Brook Southampton Campus. Stony Brook Southampton is located on an 84-acre campus on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and home to programs from the School of Health Technology and Management, Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, and Southampton Arts. The School of Health Technology and Management offers graduate programs in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Applied Health Informatics. The Speech Language Pathology Department is housed in newly renovated space specifically built for the Speech Language Pathology program. The new space includes a simulation center allowing students to engage in clinical simulations, interprofessional simulations and simulations using telehealth. There are also two smart classrooms allowing for team-based learning, a large conference room, faculty offices and labs for scholarly activity, and a student workspace all with high-speed internet access.
Stony Brook Southampton Hospital:
Staffed by more than 250 physicians, dentists, and allied health professionals representing 50 medical specialties, the Hospital, as part of the Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system, offers a diverse array of clinical services, ranging from primary medical care to specialized surgical procedures. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital has a Heart and Stroke Center, Breast Health Center, The Center for Advanced Wound Healing, 32 satellite care centers throughout the South Fork of Long Island, and is the sole provider of emergency care on the East End with a provisional Level III adult Trauma Center. The Phillips Family Cancer Center, as an integrated site of Stony Brook University Hospital Cancer Center, opened in 2019 and is changing cancer care on the east End. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is the largest employer on the South Fork with more than 1,200 employees and was named by Newsday as a 2019 Top LI Workplace. They also staff approximately 100 beds and have an active ambulatory clinic. The clinical instructor will engage in collaborative clinical practice with other healthcare professionals at this hospital. The hospital provides both inpatient and outpatient speech language pathology services and there are many opportunities for collaborative interprofessional research.

Provide clinical supervision to graduate students at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and within Stony Brook University.
Teach Speech-Language Pathology related courses.
Provide service in program, school, university and professional committees, as well as, in the community.
Provide advisement to graduate students in the program.
1. Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
2. Certification CCC-SLP.
3. Eligibility for New York State License.
4. Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience.
5. Minimum of 2 years of student and/or clinical fellow supervisory experience.
Modified Barium Swallow Study experience.
Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow Experience.
