A postdoctoral Research Associate position in Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) is available in Dr. Annick Anctil’s group in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. Dr. Anctil’s research seeks to reduce the environmental impact of new technologies. Life-cycle assessment (LCA) is used to identify critical steps in current technologies and guide greener alternatives by combining theoretical environmental assessment and experimental work.
The LCA Scientist will be a key member of two projects related to plastic recycling and possibly other material recycling projects. The suitable candidate will support a multi-disciplinary team focused on developing new cleaning and upcycling plastic waste methods. The role involves collecting inventory data, modeling chemical processes using Aspen process simulation, and conducting life cycle assessment studies. Dr. Anctil will work closely with the successful candidate in a collaborative lab environment to develop the project and help the trainee achieve their career goals. The appointment will be initially for one year with the possibility of two additional years based on satisfactory performance and continuation of funding.

Research expertise in sustainability, techno-economic assessment (TEA) and circular economy.
