STUDENT SERVICES (KO-SSER-IUKOA)
Indiana University Kokomo seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Track & Field Coach - Throws. Over the last four years, the track & field program has grown immensely from a distance event to a full-fledged roster in all events. The 2020 season marked the program's first year with a full roster and significant growth on the field events side of the team.
Reporting to the Head Coach, the assistant coach will assist the head coach in all facets of the program. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: Demonstrate and teach advanced throwing skills in the events of indoor and outdoor shotput and outdoor discus with potential for expansion; assist with coaching during athletic contests and practices; run small group workouts; monitor and assist with strength training program; assist with team schedule and travel, fund-raising, recruiting and evaluating new student athletes; assist with maintaining statistics and coordinating with officials; implementation of the academic program including enforcement of study tables and monitoring progress of student athletes to ensure academic eligibility; work with student athletes and monitor adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, team expectations, punctuality and appearance.
Bachelor's degree and two years of coaching or throwing experience.
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated orientation toward quality service and teamwork. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
Working Conditions / Demands
Evening and weekend work may be required. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible position averaging no more than 29 hours per week over a calendar year but seasonal hours over 40 per week during the peak times of the season.
