TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I , McGovern Institute for Brain Research , to support and participate in neuroscience and cognitive science research in an MIT laboratory engaged in building data-driven computational models of how the brain accomplishes visual object and face recognition. Responsibilities will include performing high throughput neural data collection experiments; daily animal supervision and training; providing ongoing research support during each stage of experimental data collection; working closely with the lead technician, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows on specific research thrusts to ensure efficient utilization of animal resources; and contributing to organizing, planning, and executing experimental data collection in animals and organizing and preprocessing neural data. The position offers an opportunity to become the day-to-day lead on this research project, including potential manuscript co-authorship. This position is ideal for someone who is interesting in gaining hands-on electrophysiology and other laboratory experience in preparation for graduate school.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, engineering, or a related field; two years' experience working in a research laboratory; basic computer skills. The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills who is able to work both independently and collaboratively with other lab members.
