POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE , Biology-Guarente Lab , to engage in the study of muscle biology and muscle repair. Will join an ongoing project with a well-developed mammalian cell-based assays affording a chemical screening platform for drug discovery to aid patients with the class of muscular dystrophies known as dysferlinopathies. Will work with cell lines, utilizing molecular and cell-biological techniques such as cell transfection, FACS, and fluorescent immunocytochemistry. Research efforts will also involve mouse studies using mouse models of dysferlinopathy to investigate the efficacy of drug candidates on muscle repair using both fluorescent microscopy-based assays and histology on primary muscle tissue.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a Ph.D. in the life sciences that includes working with mammalian cells and mouse biology; self-motivation; a desire to work in developing therapeutics; familiarity with and competency in cell and molecular biology techniques, tissue culture, and mouse handling and dissection.
