The Health and Wellness Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for students related to physical and mental health concerns and issues. They are responsible for providing referrals to students and connecting them to internal and external resources. The Coordinator oversees educational outreach efforts to enhance students' personal and psychological development, to support their attainment of learning goals, and to help them overcome barriers to success.
As an integral part of Student Affairs, the Coordinator is responsible for collecting, reviewing, and maintaining student health records in compliance with all local, state, and national regulations and orders. Additionally, they provide expertise to the campus community related to public health crises and communicable diseases. Finally, the Coordinator works collaboratively across the college to ensure shared governance, transparency, and assessment practices while helping to move the college towards comprehensive, innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of students.
Although housed on the Brockton campus, the incumbent will serve students at all campus locations. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Students.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Coordinates development, planning, and implementation of health care services, policies, protocols, and disease prevention/control.
Provides primary physical and mental health referrals and first aid to students and proper follow up to ensure successful access to care.
Collaborates with campus safety personnel in response to campus accidents and injuries.
Obtains, utilizes, and maintains inventory levels of various medical supplies and equipment
Engages in student case management related to public health crises and/or emergencies including, but not limited to, creating institutional records, providing guidance to students about documentation, maintaining case files for students, notifying the appropriate college personnel of the student illness, and providing follow-up to students related to absences and return to class. Collaborates with local boards of health on critical public health concerns and communicating requirements and expectations to students and employees.
Reviews and maintains immunization and other required medical forms and documentation to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and advisories; Uses campus systems including but not limited to Banner, Maxient, and CastleBranch to effectively manage compliance and tracking of immunizations and other health records.
Assists the Dean of Students Office in the administration of the Student Absence Protocol related to health emergencies.
Serves as a member of the Campus Assessment Resource and Evaluation (CARE) Team.
Collaborates with external partners to coordinate health services on campus, including but not limited to health testing, vaccination, and physical examination clinics and mental health services.
Provides educational information and programming through various media and modalities to the Massasoit community related to physical and mental health needs, including programming related to sexual health, alcohol and drug misuse, domestic violence, and other health and wellness topics.
Collaborates with campus leadership to address public health concerns; assist in creating plans and protocols; and provides leadership related to health testing, surveillance, and compliance.
Enhances efficiencies, streamlines policies and practices; assesses and analyzes programs and service outcomes; and determine priorities to enhance services provided.
Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities.
Generates compliance reports for the college and external agencies.
Maintains confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and other local, state, and federal laws.
Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
5 years' experience and/or training that includes clinical nursing, primary/emergency care, and public health program administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Possess and maintain valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse License
Hours: 37.5 hours a week, some evenings are required.
Salary: $63,607.75 - $72,258.71 annually, Grade 6. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study. This full-time position will be funded by the CARES Act ending date not to exceed June 30, 2021.
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites.
