Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator for Rutgers Global Health Institute.
Rutgers Global Health Institute is responding to the enormous economic losses among small businesses and nonprofits by empowering them with knowledge, tools, and guidance pertaining to a safe workplace. This training program for small businesses with a special focus on minority- and woman-owned businesses and nonprofits is aimed at creating a safe and resilient workplace. This responsive training will be offered at no cost to small businesses and nonprofits in vulnerable communities. For many businesses and nonprofits, the key to getting back to business and staying in business will be prioritizing the health and safety of both employees and customers. In addition to businesses, this program also has the potential to help individuals and families in Newark afffected by loss of jobs to get back to work and develop long-lasting resiliency. We have grant support for two years to engage a program coordinator.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Reviews federal, state and local requirements and guidelines to assist with curriculum development for minority and women operated small businesses on return to work from COVID-19.
Outreach potential leads through phone calls and visits to local businesses to promote the responsive training program and recruitment activities.
Implements training programs on COVID-19 return to work issues for small minority and women operated businesses in Newark.
Assists in content development of trainings and funding proposals.
Schedules and conducts small business consultations for businesses adversely affected by COVID-19.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a health-related field, plus three (3) years of progressively more responsible work experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program coordination, organization, marketing, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good communication skills.
Possess strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to provide respectful, culturally competent communication, including an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences.
Comfortable with going out in the field and interacting with businesses and nonprofits in-person.
Computer and word processing skills.
Familiar with Newark and the greater Newark area.
Any experience in community outreach activities.
Attention to detail.
Bilingual with Spanish/English or Creole/English.
Familiar with Microsoft office tools and will be using Qualtrics for data collection.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Walk or drive to visit local businesses in Newark.
Must have own vehicle or alternative means of transportation.
