The Michigan Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium (MROQC) is a clinical data registry founded under the partnership of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan/Blue Care Network and the University of Michigan in 2011. Since that time, MROQC has grown to a collaborative of 27 sites across the state of Michigan dedicated to improving the radiation treatment experience for patients. The MROQC Coordinating Center is part of the University of Michigan, funded by the BCBSM Value Partnerships initiative, and housed at the U of M Ann Arbor, North Campus Research Complex (NCRC). The MROQC Coordinating Center is currently looking for a highly skilled individual who will serve as a Physics Quality Coordinator for the program.
Evaluating and auditing the performance of program physics participants via site visits and ongoing communication. Communication will include informing the participants of program updates and other items of relevance to the programs.
Assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of an existing (and/or proposed) Radiation Oncology quality improvement database(s). This includes establishing consistent data collection, procedures, and reporting for the designated programs. This will involve developing and pilot testing of data collection strategies and tools as well as providing education to the program participants.
Monitoring use of the databases and recommend changes, if appropriate, based on user feedback.
Assisting with the analysis of data related to radiation therapy such as technical details of the simulation and treatment planning, dose volume histograms, and treatment plans.
Training new Physics Data Abstractors on MROQC data collection process, project criteria and data abstraction expectations.
Identifying issues preventing the program participants from functioning at high levels of performance and working with the participants to resolve these issues. The Physics Quality Coordinator must provide timely support to the needs and concerns of the program participants.
Collaborating with the MROQC database administrator to perform basic data management such assisting with the modifications/new builds of the data entry system in which hospitals submit data, etc.
Collaborating with physicists, dosimetrists, physician leads, statisticians, data analysts and other members of the team to drive projects forward to completion.
Presenting on key aspects of the programs in public forums.
Contributing to the preparation and coordination of collaborative-wide meetings.
Associate and Intermediate
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, including MS Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent interpersonal skills, as demonstrated in oral, written and presentation formats
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
Minimum 2 years data management and analysis experience
Associate and Intermediate
Database software applications
Statistical analysis software or programming languages such as SAS, Stata, or Python
Data abstraction for clinical research or quality improvement
Treatment planning system or handling of DICOM image datasets
Knowledge of Radiation Oncology, Physics or Nuclear Engineering
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
