Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a food service dishwasher/utility.
The food service dishwasher/utility ensures cleanliness of all utilities. Duties include scraping and rinsing food from dirty dishes and washing them by hand or placing them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine depending on assigned equipment; washing pots, pans and trays based on assigned procedures; removing trash and placing it in designated containers; steam cleaning or hosing out garbage cans; opening and/or closing the unit following all set procedures; and ensuring the units meet the expectations for quality, productivity and safety. The food service dishwasher/utility will maintain temperatures and chemical levels as outlined by provided standards; keep dish area orderly and in compliance with safety standards; and ensure complete cleanliness and sanitation.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Qualified candidate must be resourceful, resilient, self-motivated, and energetic. This position will require good verbal communication skills; ability to be organized, detail oriented, and to multi task; and a cheerful disposition when communicating with guests. Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.; frequently bend and twist from the waist; stand for extended periods of time, up to 4 consecutive hours; and require frequent use of hands and arms. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
