The Biostatistician provides biostatistical consulting services to support cardiovascular research. These efforts include statistical analysis of databases (cohorts, claims data, electronic health records data), to support new and ongoing projects. Pre-award/project development includes protocol and grant development (e.g., study design consultation and preparing a statistical analysis plan). Ongoing project work involves initial consultation, project agreement (cost estimate and project planning), data management, statistical analysis, the final project report, and manuscript preparation. The Biostatistician is expected to engage in continuous learning to keep current with new statistical methods, models and applications in cardiovascular research.
Master's Degree with major courses in relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelors Degree with major courses in field of research and 5 years of relevant experience
Three years of biostatistics consulting experience in clinical research
Familiarity with SAS and/or R programming
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
Must have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
Proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
Typing speed of 60wpm
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person
Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships, ability to explain complex statistical concepts and results to researchers with very little statistical training
Masters Degree or higher in biostatistics or statistics or other related fields (e.g., MPH with emphasis on biostatistics)
Five years of biostatistics consulting experience in cardiovascular research
At least 2 years of experience in biostatistics consulting and collaboration
Familiarity with both SAS and R programming
