Under the Direction of the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer, this position is responsible for the management and oversight of the daily operations and assignments of UC Davis Health HR Business Partner team and program in a highly complex healthcare environment. The successful candidate should be able to exercise originality and judgement in making complex decisions and approach matters of significance with a strategic lens while identifying potential issues of concern, and recommending solutions that maximize organizational excellence and performance. The incumbent is expected to own and expand effectiveness of HR services and relationship with health care leaders and serve as a facilitating partner, strategic and operational bridge with HR Ceners of Expertise on matters of significance. This role is crucial to facilitating strong and effective HR communication and feedback processes at UC Davis Health, and collaborate with UC Davis Health Central HR, Campus Counsel, Disability Management Services, Risk Management, and Compliance on a variety of complex personnel and regulatory matters. Keeps abreast of changing state & federally mandated laws/policies and healthcare related regulations that govern the employment of all UC Davis Health workforce. The incumbent contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources strategic plan and objectives through identification of operational and workforce problems and mobilizing internal HR partners to address them effectively.
Minimum 3-5 years of management experience and demonstrated experience and/or training supervising and coaching staff members
A bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent related work experience in areas such as Business or Human Resources Management, Health Care Administration, or Industrial & organizational Psychology
Possess skills necessary to be responsible for the identification, monitoring and maintenance of departments financial, human, and facility resources along with the management, operational and regulatory healthcare administration knowledge and experience and/or ability to learn UC Davis Health HR processes in order to be an effective resource to Executive Directors, Providers, and Staff
Demonstrated ability to connect how HR enables and supports the outcomes required for business success and deliver integrated solutions
Demonstrated ability to coach and influence multiple levels of leadership to grow capability and capacity
Demonstrated ability to build and track HR metrics that drive organizational performance
Administrative skills to develop and lead a successful team. A strong mix of business acumen, organization development, and human resources expertise coupled with consulting skills required to aid in guidance and management of human resources functions within the business units
Demonstrated ability to establish clear and challenging goals, and develop effective, realistic long- and short-range plans, maintain information, schedules and systems in an organized fashion, exercise reason and sound judgment to make popular and unpopular decisions, using a broad perspective and building consensus, and use initiative, vision, and creativity to take on new task and generate innovative ideas, approaches and solutions
Negotiation and persuasion skills to create collaborative relationships representatives from different departments with diverse missions and needs
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey information, concepts, instructions, and ideas in oral and written formats to a variety of audiences with diverse backgrounds, agendas, and levels of knowledge and expertise

Analytical skills necessary to analyze diverse and complex human resource, medical, administrative and fiscal information.
Knowledge of and experience administering human resources practices, policies, and procedures.

Exercises tact and diplomacy when dealing with others and can solicit cooperation and information from a variety of people and organizations
Advanced experience and skills in recruitment, training, development, and employee retention methods.
Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare operational practices and principles. Knowledge of hospital, ambulatory and/or School of Medicine methods, policies and procedures
Advanced degree in Business Management, Industrial & organizational Psychology, Human Resources Management or related field
Human Resources Certification (SHRM, PHR, SPHR, etc.)
