Dept Marketing Statement This is a position within the Smarter Balanced division of the University of California Santa Cruz Extension.
Smarter Balanced is a member led organization of states and territories that collaborate to provide formative, interim and summative assessment resources (e.g. tools, items, tests, etc.) that help educators better prepare their students to be college and career ready after they leave high school. Applies advanced business process and analysis concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. The business system analysts are expected to understand the principles and terminologies they come across and understand the business needs, evaluate alternatives and justify the recommended approach as part of preparing the business case.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary Information: $85,000 - $105,000 / Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documents requirements and translates into proper system and processes requirement specifications.
Applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define highly complex systems scope and objectives based on advanced knowledge of applicable business practices, processes and systems and industry standards to meet end-user needs.
Prepares and drafts requirements, user test cases, and product specifications.
30% - Technical Documentation
Creates documentation sufficient for technical teams, internal and external, to understand the application as a whole and fix or enhance as necessary. Creates documentation in custom-consumable format to ensure mutual understanding between developers and customer. Creates user stories as part of requirements gathering process.
Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad impact within a large organization. Develops unit integration and acceptance testing plans and scenarios. Creates test scripts and guides. May lead cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.
Creates, directs, and/or assists in the creation of technical documentation for: Application Development, Service Provider Help Desk Guides, Member Testing, Business processes, Development work, and System architecture.
20% - Process Improvement and Design
Initiates, facilitates, implements and documents business and/or development process changes. Sets the technical requirements for complex specifications.
20% - Project Coordination
Coordinates contract development and execution with Contract Monitor(s). Includes the drafting of statements of work, proposals, and base requirements.
Performs internal communications of project status and milestones with stakeholders. Participates in daily scrum and team sprints.
Contributes to team efforts to meet project/sprint goals and deliverable timelines.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions.
Advanced knowledge of related areas of IT.
Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across an organization.
Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation, requirements elicitation, research, writing, and engineering.
Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans.
Ability to evaluate stakeholder needs.
Ability to lead and/or facilitate meetings.
Demonstrated experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and/or practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Scrum, UML, UML Enterprise, et cetera.
Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story and user test case creations and narrative descriptions. Demonstrated experience creating user stores as part of customer requirements gathering process.
