St. Cloud State University is seeking applications for a probationary position in the School of Health and Human Services, Kinesiology Department. The Kinesiology Department offers degree programs to prepare Physical Education educators and a dual licensure option in Health Education and Physical Education. A successful applicant will work with individuals within the Kinesiology Department and collaborate with faculty and staff in the School of Education to develop the programs, maintain accreditation standards and align the programs with new standards required by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). This position will also assist in the development of an Adaptive Physical Education program to further meet the needs of our students and address the shortage of qualified individuals for these teaching positions. In addition, this position may instruct courses in the Community Health major.
Doctorate in Physical Education, Health Education, Adaptive Physical Education, or Education.
Depending on doctoral preparation must meet additional minimum qualifications of 18 credits of graduate-level work in Health as required by the MN Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience as teacher of record, with at least one year as a health teacher in 5-12 Health Education.
Holds or has held a professional educator license in the appropriate field.
Must have completed a state-approved educator preparation program OR published peer-reviewed research in the content area of instruction.
Demonstrated experience with the use of technology in teaching, including online classes.
Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Master's degree in Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Physical Education.
Five or more years as teacher of record in 5-12 Health Education
Minimum of one year K-12 adaptive PE teaching experience at elementary, middle, or secondary school level.
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum writing showing alignment amongst state standards, edTPA (or other teacher performance assessment) requirements, national accreditation standards, and teaching needs in PK-12.
